Eddie is a first-year PhD student studying networks of buckled elastic beams, which exhibit emergent properties from nonlinear behaviors. He hopes to develop foundations for new meta-materials that enable smarter robotics and engineered structures. Eddie grew up in Gainesville, Florida and received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida, along with minors in Mathematics and Percussion Performance. His fascination with math, particularly dynamical systems, is evident in his research as well as his hours of mathematical proof visualization videos consumed in his free time. He is on hiatus from drumming with his former band in Gainesville, but he continues to fulfill his passion for music by listening to every genre and playing piano whenever he gets a chance.
